Erratic recognition of MP4 files over DLNA

Got my new LN46A750 today, and so far it's been a mixed bag of good & bad. One feature I'd looked forward to was to be able to stream movies from my PC. I hooked up my ethernet port to my home network (hardwired to my wireless router; PC's are wireless) and was able to view .AVI movies via the WiseLinkPro connection. But when I tried to select .MP4 files (even though their thumbnails appear), I get the message NOT SUPPORTED VIDEO CODEC. What's strange is that I can load the same .MP4 file on a thumb drive, plug it into the USB port, and it will play on my LN46A750...but not through the ethernet connection. Any suggestions or idea on how I can correct this? I don't want to have to copy every movie to a thumb drive! (an OH man, is navigation difficult through the W.LINK PRO menus!!)
