Erratic mouse pointer on Win XP Home SP2

by Domingos / October 25, 2004 8:35 AM PDT

My computer?s pointer suddenly started acting erratically and is getting worse. I don?t remember if I downloaded anything from the Internet, or if I open an e-mail, which I should not have.
I?m using Norton AntiVirus?, with Auto-Protect Enabled, up to date. MailWasher Pro?, up to date. ZoneAlarm Pro? also up to date. If it is a Virus, shouldn?t one of these programs catch it? How will I remove this Virus from my computer? If it is not a Virus what can it be?
I am using a Logitech? USB Trackball mouse and I reinstalled the mouse drive with no benefit at all.

Appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks for your help. I apologize for the delay in answering.

I did try those websites, but no viruses were found.

Suddenly I remember having this same similar problem a wile ago, with a regular mouse.
The answer was: "Lint and dust inside". So, I opened my TrackBall, and there it was. I found lots of lint and dust inside it. After cleaning, the problem disappeared.

I would like to pass this along, in case someone will have this same problem in the future. Just open your Mouse or Trackball and clean it of this dust and or lint.

cleaning insides is definitely first step..
second is to try another mouse..

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
