Resolved Question

Equipment for web-interface bar code access system

Mar 5, 2015 6:39PM PST

Hello everybody,
I have a purpose to arrange one access control point which has to include:
- 1 pedestrian turnstile (probably a tripode)
- 1 bar code reader
- web-interface management
- cheap cost
Thus a turnstile has to be managed via the web-interface and pass users using a bar code tickets...
What trusted hardware (and software) would you offer to arrange such system???

A turnkey solution

Hi,

<div>to my mind the cheapest way is to put a doorman with a scanner
in his hand to manually check bar codes and tickets. Low height turnstile is
easy to jump over and bar codes sometimes can be read incorrectly. That's why
the watching man would be anyhow required to inspect the process and solve
scanning issues. If you consider this system for outdoor application where it
is difficult to stand with a scanner for a long time, for example, in rain,
snow, extremely hot or frost conditions, the turnstile is really helpful. But
nevertheless you'll need an inspector, sitting in heated booth. In this case I
would recommend applying to PERCo. They provide both waist-high and full height security
turnstiles and web-interface access control system. I didn't face bar code
scanners in their range, but think it can be taken from the other manufacturer
and integrated to the system.

Why not develop this using a common PC?

Later, after you have created all the code and how it works you can look at smaller systems.
