Epson Stylus Photo RX580 The Ink blood sucking vampire!!

When I needed a new printer I got sucked in by the "Factory Rep" in the store who sold me this printer. It has good quality but it sucks ink like a Hummer sucks fuel! The replacement ink cartridges cost almost as much as the printer did. I thought I could use "generic ink but no, they have put a one time chip in the cartridges. I use mostly black ink but when it initializes it sucks all the colors down. Any Suggestions? I know, buy a simple black & White printer, but I don't think they even make those any any more.

Those can be found at the usual office stores in the 99 buck range.

I have the HP k550 and would buy it again.

In reply to: B/W = LASER.

Just last week, a home BW Laser printer on amazon for 50 bucks.

And the k550 needed print heads. Print head costs being what they were I asked fellow moderators for ideas and more than one nodded to the Canon MX870.

I found a couple of places that supposedly sell Epson cartridges for under $5. I may order one and see what works. I get mine from Cartridge World, less to buy all the cartridges than the Epson color pack costs. (But I have to be sure the gold contacts are the right pattern. Check your Epson cartridges.)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
