This is NOT a trick question!
Many years ago I adopted my wife's Epson when she bought an inexpensive B&W Laser which she still loves. I like the ability to print in color but don't use color frequently and don't mind the slow speed. I have not used the Epson's bells and whistles. Aside from straight printing, I do print Avery labels.
I hate the cost of the ink (I tried after market cartridges from Kaboodle, some worked but others didn't and the saving wasn't much). I also wanted a copier and scanner.
So after researching HP, Kodak, Brother, and Lexmark multifunction printers I went out and bought the Canon yesterday for $70 (almost the price of a set of Epson cartridges).
Now I'm having buyers remorse. The Epson has stood up over time mechanically and jams are rare so maybe I should just stick with it, get it cleaned, try another brand of after market cartridges, use it to print DVDs, run to Kinko's for my copying needs, and give up on the scanning. But I have a small concern that the Epson might not work if I upgrade from my XP system.
I would appreciate help with my doubts. Should I stick with the Epson, go with the Canon without looking back, or get something completely different?
