Epson R220 vs R200

Dec 13, 2005 3:36PM PST

Is the R220 the latest Epson CD/DVD printer?
Or does it offer more features than the R200.
Or are they both the same but R220 is sold by Target and R200 is sold by online retailers?

Anyone get a chance to play with the R220? I heard R220 fixes Cd printing issues on the R200?

CIS for R220

The epson 220 prints dvd's and cd's very well. It all depends on what the original image is you are using. If the image is a low quality image it will llok bad. Here is also a link to a Continuous ink system for the Epson 220 that will save money on ink.

Had R200 - now have R220

I dumped my R200 because it slanted the paper by about 1/32" so that I always had to trim full bleed prints but it did exhibition quality prints on Epson HW Matte paper with third party inks.

I then bought an R220 and it gets the border right but the color is CRAP with the same paper and ink!! I installed the Epson driver for the R200 and although it complained about print to a printer that was "not present" it was much better than with the R220 driver.

Also the R220 driver has no tone options when you select photo enhance.

Makes me wonder if Epson has written the new driver to give inferior results with third party inks. Don't know - but I wonder.

Ask them if they could find any remaining R200s in some stores in your area. We had one left. Sold it for $50
