Epson Problems!!!

Jun 20, 2007 11:11AM PDT

I've a HP1730n w/Vista.I have a EpsonCX7800 All-In-One. When I got my new computer I had trouble installing the Printer/Scanner. I can't remember what I did but got it installed and it worked fine. Now last month the scanner quit working. I've tried everything I can think of. Uninstalled everything, got new drivers from Epson. Its not the printers fault I believe its the lack of software for the scanner. I can't put in the cd because they say its not compatible so I just uninstalled everything and disconnected all, downloaded the drivers and plugged everything back in and drivers installed sucessfully. Printer works fine and scanner still does not work. Pull up scanner settings and it says scanner not ready, Interface not connected. I've tried this site before with no luck , but thought I'd try one more time. Thanks for your help.Mo

My Epson 1660 Perfection is NOT supported by Vista either. Epson has chosen to skip my model. I was thinking of buying another scanner, but held off. About 2 weeks ago, I found VueScan software that does run my scanner with Vista at the link above. There's a free demo, but the real program costs $40.

While it's not quite as good as the Epson software, it does work with a ton of different scanners.

Scanner not working
Jun 21, 2007 8:09AM PDT

Yes on went on Epson and downloaded the updated drivers for vista which was 12229 or the 3.04 twain driver etc, thanks though. I still think I'm missing something. I can put a picture in the flatbed and press start and it will make a copy, so it is scanning in a way. I just don't seem to have the software to do this on the computer. I'll take any suggestions anyone has. Thanks Mo

Thank You,thank you, yes it works. It asks if you want to download their drivers that work with most scanners and I said No and it still works fine, other than you really can't use the trial as its a blue background and has dollar signs on it,but definitely an answer
to what was going on , it was the software. Thanks for taking the time to help, Mo

Free trial...

You're certainly right that the free trial leaves a lot to be desired. I was mainly interested in whether it would work with my Epson scanner before committing to pay for it.

I haven't used it enough to see how much I can do with the program, but so far, it's done everything I wanted. $40 might be a stretch for this software, but it's still cheaper than buying another scanner.

Thats true, but now that I know its the software I'm going to check with Epson and see what they can do for me. Its worth a try, Mo
