Episodes dissapearing from iTunes.

Feb 12, 2009 6:21AM PST

I have used itunes to download BUZZ out loud for a few years, saving all episodes. Today I came home and discovered that, without changing anything about 2/3 of my episodes are gone! All of February except today. Part of January and I only have about 30 from 2008 and less from 2007! What happened? Itunes will only re-download This month! And I have to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to do that!!!

What happened?
Jonathan

I think that they throw away the old one the aren't listened to or watched if you wanted to keep them all you should have back them up to a external hard drive. That way you wouldn't lose them at all. With all of the iTunes updates I think that iTunes dump the older ones.

We don't have control over your library...

Once you download an episode to your hard drive, it won't go anywhere unless you specifically do something (or at least that how its supposed to work.)

We only ever have the last 10 episodes in the podcast feed at any given time and its been that way since mid-2008, so our only feeding 10 episodes shouldn't affect your own library of already downloaded episodes on your end.

It sounds like something funky happened with your installation of iTunes. I can't speak to what it is specifically... but if you download a podcast from a feed so it resides on your hard drive, iTunes won't remove it from your hard drive without you specifically doing it somehow. Unless, of course, something really strange happened.

Make sense?
