Dear Buzz Gang and Crew,
I listened to the podcast Ep: 1237 and I have to say that even though the Buzz Crew are probably the sharpest minds in Tech Media...they missed the point with the news stories on big media saying "No" to Apple regarding "Flash" technology.
Quickly Summarize:
---------------
Media companies such as: Time Warner and NBC Universal indicated to Apple that they are sticking with "Flash" for their web content and will not convert their websites for Apple's devices such as the iPad and iPhone.

Buzz Crew: "Indicated that this was a good thing in that it puts Apple on notice because 'Big Media' will not change their websites for Apple's products."
Here are the issues:
---------------
1. Media & content companies are scrambling to figure out how to monetize their content.
2. Media & content companies are deathly afraid of being marginalized by the Internet video portals.
3. Media & content companies cannot change their business model easily for the Internet because these companies are not structured internally from a management perspective to deal with an alternate system.
4. Media & content companies current business model is geared toward large distribution systems like networks and cable. The current Internet distribution systems are too fragmented which makes monetization difficult for them.
5. Media & content companies will ultimately be forced to deal with Apple because organizations like Apple are the only companies that completely support their current business model and management structure while still having centralized distribution systems.
Bottomline:
---------
Media & content companies can make noise and posture about their independence but in the end, they will come back to Apple and the executives of Apple know this cold! Media & content companies have no choice because their monetization plans will be too costly for them to execute effectively or efficiently based on their current corporate environments. Media & content companies are not structure internally from a management perspective or externally from a distribution perspective to deal with the plethora of Internet distribution systems. They will be forced to deal with companies like Apple because of the organizational advantages that Apple presents to the marketplace. It is just straight economics. It has nothing to do with "Flash".
