I brought over my friends computer to remove is many viruses. After using AVG6,NAV,AD-Aware,Trojan Remover etc; I finally got a clean bill of health. It has remained clean since(He had no Antivirus protection on the system) I now hook up the computer to my network and i am able to get on line but cannot sustain connectivity once i exit the Internet. I cannot get back on without going through the long process of entering control panel, network, etc or sometimes i have to fool around with internet options, and even then i may sometimes get"server cannot be found" Most times a restart will help. Once i get on line i can surf freely, but should i close my IE Window, then the trouble begins. The system runs smoothly otherwise. I also got rid of the "Dust EXE" problem. Anyone care to give some help. System is 2.4GHZ, 128MB AMD DURON with WinME. Viruses and software that i removed are 19 Worm & Trojan, plus Kaaza & SBC-DSL.

This is not an ME problem. Your friend is crazy to have no Anti-virus software. Has he since added it? I just had my computer "cleaned" out. If he's on KaZaA, and even on the Internet, he may be getting swamped with AdWare and virus attacks. I had Spybot added, in addition to Hijackthis.zip, and on top of the Norton Anti-virus software. Best of luck to your friend's future computer health in the absense of anti-virus software. Getting Norton or something like it is the bare minimum advice I'd give.

Sounds like you have some window files that are messed up. You might be able to reinstall me and fix those files. I, after all those virus, would reformat the c: hard drive and install windows me again, and start with a clean computer. Good luck. Bill

Re installing WinME was what i am running from, but your suggestion is the direction i will have to go. I will try the repair first, then clean install later.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
