My brother brought me 2 machines like this over the last 2 months. Bad news was they had no recovery media but the good news was both were running W10.
So their files safe on backups I created a Windows 10 install USB stick for other computers using the Windows 10 Media Creation Kit. I booted that and in both cases used the Windows 10 Reset This PC feature to bring both back to full operation.
There's a lot of malware out there and nobody is admitting what they did to blow up either PC but I suspect cracked software or torrent use.
I own a HP laptop running windows 10 and this morning I started using it as normal, but had to leave it so I shut the lid and walked off. After about an hour I came back to it and it started it up and I got nothing on the screen. After a few minutes I was given a message saying it's repairing and scanning drive C. So I left an hour, and it said 0% complete. In the end I left it 6 hours and it still said it's scanning and repairing and still 0% complete.
So I took the battery out rebooted it and it gave me the option of skipping the scanning by pressing any key. I tried that and after 10 minutes of nothing I got a red screen with the clock and and the internet bar on the bottom left corner.. I couldn't do nothing with it so rebooted it and got the old Scannnig and repairing message again.
Whats happened,is my computer shot?
