endangered list: phone w/o camera

Jun 4, 2004 1:56PM PDT

I know exactly what I want, but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know if something like this exists?

I'm currently with Sprint, so I don't want to leave (cuz I'll have to pay through the nose to get out). I want a phone with the following:

*clam-shell design
*caller-ID viewable while phone is closed
*calendar
*NO camera

The Samsung VGA 1000 and the Sanyo PM8200 have everything I want, but they also have the camera, so they're out of the running...

The Motorola V60v looks promising, except that I can't find it anywhere besides on the Sprint PCS web site; I can't tell if it has a preview window when the phone is closed or not....

Hello -
I recently aquired the Motorola V60v. It is exacltyl what wanted. Years ago I ahd the StarTac. I switched phones thinking the other ones that Sprint offered I would like (a Nokia & then the Samsung APH-A460 due to the voice activitaed daialing). I ahd that phone for 1.5 yrs. It was ok, however had to be repalced 1 time due to a bad charging pin. It would heat up when on it. I hoped that Sprint & Motorola would team up again. I just wanted a true phone, no camera, etc. Well as luck would have it, I went to the Sprint site & found that the V60V was introduced. It has a preview window, voice activitated dialing, the ability to store many numners & voice numbers per entry. The samsung would only store 10, I've been told that it can handle 500 voice activated entries. I would reccommend this phone! It's a Motorola, clam shell shape (the orgional!) voice activated & a great all areound phone.

I know this message was posted a while ago, just though I'd share my 2 cent for future readers. I currently have the Motorola V60v and I must say I am very dis-pleased with the service (i.e., very poor battery life, signal is questionable).

I too have been a long time fan of the Motorola StarTac product, but the V60v falls short of it's predecessor. If you don't reli heavily on your cell phone, then it might be a good fit. If you're a power user like myself... I look at other options before striking.

Peace.
