which program is trying to end?

When you get the message, click CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Windows Task Manager and in the Applications tab see what programs are running and whether they are "not responding".

the reason i disconnect is cos the connection is running extremely slow. so i disconnect in order to reconnect. the end program says that the program is not responding but then the dialup box closes. i have a compaq presario 2500. it runs slow and behind sometimes.

program is not responding?

Other steps;

What anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware and firewall do you have?

Perhaps you should update all of your anti-malware programs and run a complete scan of your system with each.

You need more than what

you have for spyware/adware protection. It sounds like you are still infected. Besides what you already have you should use these, both to determine what you are infected with and also for future protection. Once you are all cleaned up, more than likely your other problems will be gone. You will probably have to clean system restore too.

Spybot S&D (download, check for updates, read the tutorial and scan often, it also does some blocking)

SpywareBlaster (a blocker only, download it, check for updates, enable it and leave it alone except for checking for updates occasionally)

SpywareGuard (similiar to SpywareBlaster but works in a different way and does not update as often for that reason.

Ad-Aware SE (a scanner, download, check for updates, read the directions and scan.

cwshredder (stand alone unit)(another small scanner for certain things, ALL other windows should be closed)

Also do an online scan at one or all of these.
On the first one, make sure you checkmark the box that says "autoclean"

Housecall (using IE with Active-X)

Housecall (all browsers using java)

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
