I only use Mac filtering and have never had any problems. If you search this forum you will find many people that have had problems once their system is encrypted. I did and switched to Mac filtering only. Since then adding new computers xboxes etc have been a breeze with no dropped connections.
The only reason to use some form of security is to stop someone in your area from connecting to your system.

After a few days of using some unknown wireless signal, I hooked up my wireless Netgear router. Kudos to netgear for making the process easy enough for a 2 year old to understand. Now Im getting a great signal and connection speed.
Now I wanted to encypt my signal. It took me forever to figure out. Finally I had to ask someone at work. He told me to type 192.168.1.1 and login to my router. Boom Im in. Step by step I went until it said ''page can not be found'' And from there my wireless reciever (Belkin USB) would only pick up the weaker signal.
After freaking out that I did something wrong, I uninstalled and re-installed the software for the USB reciever. From there everything worked great.
So, what do I need to do so I can encypt this signal? Should I even bother to encrypt this signal?
