Resolved Question

Enabling Smart Remote for my PC?

May 2, 2015 11:06PM PDT

Hi All,

Recently bought a H6400 Smart Tv and have found the smart remote (especially the motion pointer doo-dah) really useful. I'd love to enable the remotes functions on my Pc. Specifically for use with a Jriver Library Server.

Is it possible?

Perhaps i can enable Anynet+ on my PC and the remote can talk to the PC via HDMI cable hook-up?

Perhaps i can purchase an IR or Bluetooth receiver for the PC and have it talk to the Tv's blaster device?

What do you think?

Sounds like some code and gear may have to be written/made.

You see folk doing stuff like that with that Nintendo remote. Here you see the same issues. Good luck with your new project.

I figured the functionality would already be available as part of Anynet+. Given a compatible device Anynet+ can output the smart remote commands like Fast Forward/Play etc (so i'v read) and i wondered if the motion sensor operation was also available for an external device to interpret. Certainly if some clever person had written software which enabled Anynet+ on a Pc it would be worth checking it out.

Sounds like a project.

Here I went with a bluetooth remote by Satechi. To get Anynet+ working on a PC would take some bridge device/software and more. All stuff folk (developers) would have to work up.

I'm sure that as a developer you have a Fire TV remote around.
