Emulate XP on Win7 Home Premium (roundabout, I know)

Jun 14, 2010 1:08PM PDT

I'm wanting to emulate XP on my Windows 7 Home Premium x64 machine, and I can't get MS's XP Mode because of their restrictions. I'm thinking of running a Linux emulator and then running Wine under the Linux emulator. I don't mean a dual-boot system; I want to run XP-compatible 16-bit apps without exiting Win7. In the words of Emperor Palpatine, can it be done?

You could use Virtual Box on Windows 7 now.

But what about the XP image? Where am I supposed to get that?

Same place as the rest of us.

You use your XP CD. Did we need a discussion about licenses?

If I do the math, it could be cheaper to do the anytime upgrade to 7 pro which gives you access to a XP image.
