Question

Emails: Can receive, can't send

Feb 23, 2015 2:23AM PST

Whenever I am logged into another Wifi (eg on holidays etc) away from home, I get the same problem: I continue receiving emails, but cannot SEND. My provider is Orange and PC is on Windows 7 (with Livemail). I have 2 email addresses but whether I use my Orange or Gmail one, the problem remains. This message may get onto the forums or may not, let's see, but I may not be able to answer you until I get home in a week's time, unless I can do something now to heal this problem.

My internet provider used to do the same

thing. I have roadrunner on Bright House Networks and their SMTP server would only allow me to send email if i was on the CFL.RR network. CFL - Central Florida and when I visited my family which had roadrunner in Ohio it wouldn't allow me to send out going email. Now they have a new SMTP server address that allows me to send from anywhere. So contact Orange and explain the problem. As far as gmail you should be able to send email anywhere.

Re: mail

If you can access your mailbox at www.gmail.com in your browser (which is the usual way, of course), sending a mail should work. If it does not work via Window Live Mail (is that your normal way of accessing it indeed?) when you're not at home that's inconvenient indeed, and I don't really understand why.

If you can access your Orange mailbox via their webmail page in your browser, sending mails should work also.

I can access both (Orange-Wanadoo, and Gmail in Livemail)

Then it's time to try your browser.

That's the common way when not at home.
