Emailing photos

May 2, 2005 5:43AM PDT

I doubt I'll be giving all the relevant info but I'll try.

I just bought a Kodak EasyShare camera and installed the software. A while back, I sent a number of prints to an outfit called PhotoWorks and had it put them on a CD. This morning, I tried to send my brother one of those photos by email. He said he can't open it. This has happened before when I sent him a photo before I got the EasyShare software.

I expect I need to get more info from my brother, but I thought I'd go ahead and see if I can get some input now.

I sent myself the same email at my hotmail and ATT email addresses and the photo came through fine on both, although with Hotmail the photo appeared both in the body of the email and in the attachment while with ATT it was only in the attachment. When I open the ATT email, I get the program for saying what program I want to use to open the attachment, with EasyShare already printed in as the answer and with no other choices. One thing I am wondering is if my brother just doesn't have the right software to open it, although that is unlikely since he has previously forwarded photos to me that were sent to him by email.

I guess I'm thinking that there is a kind of standard reason why brother is not getting the photo. At least I'm hoping so so that I can avoid another of those getting into the kind of conplexities that I'm not good at.

webshots
May 2, 2005 8:48AM PDT

After reading another thread on this topic, I downloaded Wbshots as someone, I think it was snapshot, advised that a person could do. That will enable me to put the photos online for anyone to see, hopefully including that crazy brother of mine.

But I'd still like to know if anyone has any input on the problem I stated because it will still be there for other kinds of attachments.

A couple of possibilities:

1. The photo file you are sending may be too large for his ISP or his graphics viewer.

Resize/Resample the photo down to about 800X600 and try again.

2. If your brother is using AOL as his ISP, that can lead to several problems itself.

..........

If you brother needs a good graphics viewer, I suggest he download the fast and free Irfanview.
