There's a lot on the web about spoofing the email sender's address so if I was so inclined I could send an email to you and fake the return address to make it look like you (or anyone) sent it.
You bring you a second question. That is, would you change to a proprietary or new email system that didn't allow such? It's unlikely to happen soon as the old email standard, broken as it is, is so widely used.

So I have a really weird situation... making my wife think I am doing some unsavory things.
So there was an email sent to myself with less than appropriate links to pictures from deviant art. And almost as if to get rid of itself, seemed to be sitting in the trash.
It makes no sense and I am trying to wrap my head around it... is such a virus even possible? I also don't see any recent activity of my mailbox that would send any red flags. I was on deviant art shortly before the email was sent as well... but was just looking at my own page. I just can't make any logical sense out of this!
Thoughts?
