Email Problem on New Laptop...

Apr 25, 2005 11:42PM PDT

Hi All...

I have a new Toshiba A75-S211...I installed Norton SystemWorks (as I have on my Desktop), and I have Zone Alam as the firewall. The PC came with OE 6 sp2. I can receive email but am unable to send email. I've checked with Verizon (DSL), settings were fine and it wasn't on their end. I checked with Toshiba. They said it was some setting in the firewall or Norton that is blocking Port 25. Now...I disabled the firewall...couldn't send email. I disabled Norton, couldn't send email. I don't know what to do to resolve the issue. I have Norton SystemWorks and Norton Personal firewall on my desktop and have no problem. Should I go with the Norton firewall instead to fix this? Can anyone help?

Thanks for your time and help!

What happens when you try to send? Do you get an error message?

Email Problem on New Laptop...

Hi...

Yes...here it is:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'meditor@ediblog.com', Server: 'mail.ediblog.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I've checked all settings out with Verizon DSL and Toshiba and they concur that it's either Norton Firewall or Anti-Virus settings. Symantec is no help...they gave me this article (http://service1.symantec.com/support/nip.nsf/docid/2003120510591836?Open&src=con_ols_nam) and I don't understand the language or terms concerning the ports. I don't know what's what.

Thanks for any help!

Have you bridged your modem and router? This can cause a lot of crazy problem if it is not done.
