Question

Email on Samsung Smart TV

Jan 17, 2013 2:30AM PST

This is my first post as I have just bought a Samsung UE40ES7000 and I'm trying to get the hang of it.

Apologies therefore if my questions have been asked before.

1. Is there any method of using email via the TV please?
2. How do I enter text on the Browser?
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Answer
1. Try the web based email.

2. If the remote has no keyboard I find the web app to pop up an on screen keyboard.

Some folk find this is no replacement for a PC or tablet.

Hi MikeStevens38,

To add to Bob's comment on question 2, you can use many USB, HID-complaint keyboards or mice. I'd like to recommend a brand or give a list of possibilities, but that's as specific as I can get.

USB

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I'd prefer a wireless method not USB, which I assume means a wired connection. As a newbie I don't know what HID-complaint (I presume you mean "compliant") keyboard is. I have seen a Samsung keyboard mentioned but it seems to be unavailable.
Thanks again.

Hi MikeStevens38,

Ack! Sorry for the spelling. Yes, I meant "compliant", not "complaint".

However, this doesn't preclude you from a wireless solution. You'll just want to make sure that it connects via a USB adapter to the device, as opposed to a Bluetooth keyboard which has no such accessory.

Generally, I tell people to grab any keyboard that connects via USB; it should work just fine.
