Email not being pushed

Jun 13, 2012 10:11PM PDT

Hopefully someone can help me. I'm guess about a month ago I received a software update on my iphone 4s. Ever since then my yahoo email has to be manually opened in order to receive new emails. I only mention the software update because to my knowledge, it worked fine before that.

If my phone is sitting beside me and someone were to send me an email I have no idea. I have to click on the envelope icon and then I can see anywhere from one to multiple emails downloading. It used to give me an audible tone that a new email was received and it just stopped.

** I have uninstalled all email accounts and reinstalled. I have turned the phone off and back on. I have turned the phone on while holding down the power button on the top and the round button on the front of the phone and still nothing.

I'm not sure what else to do. Do I need to go into Verizon or is that just a waste of time?

Also, I'm not 100% sure but I even think news alerts that I have set up don't push through until I actually pick my phone up and unlock the screen. Then, all of a sudden, any breaking news alerts that were sent out all pop up at once. I remember several months ago that if any news alerts were issued, they would pop up on my screen with an audible tone even if the phone was in standby mode and I wasn't actively using the phone.

**I have also made sure notifications are all set to ON and I have made sure PUSH is set to on as well.
