1. Each individual message has it's own unique header and when you Forward a message, the original message header is not available, only the one received from you. A received e-mail message -- at least when using Outlook Express, users can determine and copy the Internet Header for this message by opening the main mail for reading (not attachments) by clicking File, Properties, Details and then by simply bold/highlighting the information for copy/pasting.

2. Please note that just above the text editor (where you enter a question on the forum) is the following paragraph, and if certain information is not present in your question, our reply may not be of much help:

Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution.

I just don't understand the anomaly. If I open any e-mail message received, that procedure gives a Detail button -- only blank or unsent e-mails do not.

In what program did you 'bring it up'?

The property screen of an opened message in Outlook Express (5.5 with me) has a 'general' tab and a 'details' tab. The last one shows the headers.
If you don't use Outlook Express look in the help of your program how to retrieve them.
