emachines t6522 tv out?

Jul 26, 2005 4:22AM PDT

I just bought a eMachines T6522 from Circuity City. Very happy so far.

The T6522 comes with a ATI Radeon Xpress 200. ATI states that this integrated graphics has TV Out capability:
http://www.ati.com/products/radeonxpress200/specs.html

But I can't figure out how to configure the TV-Out (e.g. there is no TV-Out slot in the back).

I believe this is computer has a MSI motherboard and that description of that motherboard has a tv out:
http://www.ati.com/buy/promotions/radeonxpressmobo/amd939int.html (scroll down to the MSI board).

Can anyone help in figuring out how to enable tv-out capability? I am hoping that i just need to buy a inexpense cable connector.

Thanks in advance.

emachines t6522 tv out?

You need a s-video or composit cable to go to your tv.
Then in the software setup for the video chipset you have turn on the TV out port. John

Hmmm...

You are saying there is no slot at the rear of the computer for a TV out...like SVideo or Composit plugs, therefore can't plug in a cable to the TV.

It depends on the mobo. Jemulho indicates his T6522 has the MSI RS 480M2 motherboard from info he received by scanning with both Everest and Belarc.

The RS 480M2-IL has TV Out.

The Emachine site has no specs listed yet for the T6522 and Circuit City does not indicate what mobo in their specs. It is possible that you could have one of these motherboards that does NOT have a TV Out:

RS 480M
RS 480MS9-A56S
Gigabyte K8A480M-9

You could always replace the Integrated graphics with a PCIe video card that has TV Out and just buy the proper SVideo or composit cables.

No s-video out
Aug 2, 2005 2:34AM PDT

I recently purchased a T6522 from Circuit City and when not finding a s-video out connection, decided to check out the motherboard. I couldn't see under the printer port to see if there was an actual s-video connector installed, but there was a section on the motherboard that was labeled S-VIDEO. I did notice that while there were pads on the motherboard for didital audio out (AUDIO-1) and a serial port(COM1), there were no connectors installed on the motherboard. The label on the motherboard stated it was a 7093 v1.2 RS480-A21+SB400-A3, so maybe it's a cheaper version of the RS480M2 board with the s-video out, digital audio out, and serial disabled. Kind of disapointing since I was going to hook it to my A/V receiver when I got home. Although the video and audio out problems would be solved by installing a sound card and video card (don't really care about the serial), it's still weird they would sell a media center computer with ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics and AC97 audio capabilities and include only a VGA video output and analog line out for the audio. Another thing I noticed was it had and ATI Theater 550 Pro tv tuner.

TV Out

I should have posted a follow up after I checked out the motherboard info. The board does appear to be an RS480M2, but without the svideo & audio outputs. Too bad, I would have liked to have those as well.

Aug 5, 2005 2:26PM PDT

has anyone tried hooking up a dvd player to the s-video to play it through the computer. i thought it would be good to take the stress off the dvd drive. i tried hooking it up though xbox but it said somthing about "ir not working" or something like that. if u hook up a dvd player to it do u have to us the s-video and all the cords too (yellow whit red), or can you us one or the other.
