emachines T2796 restore disc set needed!

Feb 3, 2009 7:26AM PST

Hello all,
I tried to restore my emachines T2796 to factory using the restore disc set that came with the machine. The restore disk set was bad, leaving my machine with a blank hard drive. Emachines customer support says that a replacement restore disc is not availible for this machine. Does anyone know where I can get a restore disk set complete, with XP, for this PC?
Thanks,
Doug M.

Look at the list offered here

Google this:

T2596 eMachines Restore

Yes, I know I'm asking you to Google "T2596" instead of T2796". However, the first link in the Google results will get you what you need.

Your pc is listed in the "Note:" section at the bottom of page of the first result Google offers from an "ioffer" website.

Have You Tried Using the Recovery Partition..?
Feb 3, 2009 1:29PM PST

Some eMachines computers have a hidden Recovery Partition which can be accessed by pressing F10 or F11 immediately after startup. I've recovered a few eMachines computers using such a Recovery Partition.. It's might be listed as a D: drive and under normal circumstances, even a "bad" recovery disc will have formatted only the C: drive.. Hopefully, the Recovery Partition/D: still remains.

Hope this helps.

Clarify, please

What exactly did you mean when saying the "Restore Disk set was bad"?

Did you ever replace a hard drive on that machine? I've read reports where the restore disks are tied to very particular hardware, so that might be an issue.

Did you try copying the discs to new discs?

No hard drive

I have never replaced the hard drive in this machine. I have however replaced the power supply, and the motherboard. Could that be my problem?

I have not tried copying the discs to new disks, how would I go about that?

Did you replace the motherboard with the exact same model?

If you upgraded the motherboard to something else other than the same make/model of what you had, you're probably in for at least XP problems during a restore.

copy discs? Good FREE CD burning/copying program here:
