My recent suggestion is to look at the new T6212 which has the 64-bit support and future upgrade of graphics with their new PCI-Express x16 slot, at Circuit City and CompUSA:

Which is the newer/ better model?
Mar 30, 2005 2:35PM PST

Thanks for the info John. I found the same info from eMachines web site, but they dont even list the T6212 only the T5026 and thier retailer links show nothing. I know T6212 would seem to be a newer model # but cnets review of the T5026 was posted only last month and they claim Graphics aside, th P4 to be better than the AMD

T6212 and T5026
Mar 30, 2005 6:55PM PST

Hi Nacho,

According to the CNet review, Emachine refreshes its desktop line each quarter for the retail market. They keep their prices low by offering only a single build of the 3 or 4 systems it sells each quarter. CNet made its review of the T5026 on February 28 and was cirtical that emachine dropped its AGP graphics capabilities.
The T6212 has come out since February 28 and is so new that emachine has not even put anything in their Web sales or support site. Perhaps they are trying to get the current inventory sold. They can be found only at Circuity City and CompUSA at the present. A post I made recently:
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-7586-0.html?forumID=68&threadID=95334&messageID=1080122&tag=

The T6212 with a Athlon 64 processor automatically has the 64-bit support whereas the T5026 has the Pent4 5xx series processor instead of the 6xx processor which has the 64-bit support (EM64T). The T6212 has integrated graphics that can be upgraded to a PCI-Express x16 graphics card. The T5026 has the GV chipset which doesn't allow it to upgrade the graphics to AGP or PCI-Express x16.

Now if emachine can come out in a few more months with an inexpensive 6xx Pent 4 processor with integrated graphics that can be upgraded with a PCI-Express x16 slot, then it will be a match or pass the T6212 (depending on if you are a die hard AMD/Intel supporter.

Great Deal, Great PC!
Apr 17, 2005 2:42PM PDT

It's fast, It's quiet and It's cheap. And the components are all first rate. I wouldnt trade mine for anything else, even in a higher price range. I paid 599.00 for my 6200. I've been testing the speed a little, for example, My old P4-1.2GHZ took about 1.25 hours to encode a 4.5gig movie. With the new pc, it took 20 minutes. Thanks AMD!!!!

T5026 Pulled
Apr 3, 2005 3:08PM PDT

The T5026 was pulled from Circuit City's shelves after discovering a whole bunch of them were shipped with the "Intel 4 HT" sticker on the front in error. The P4 chip in the 5026 was capable of HT (as it was enabled in the Gateway counterparts), but was not an option from eMachines on the T5026 or even available in the BIOS. I believe the T6212 is the replacment, which is a much better machine IMHO.

i got one of those with the wrong sticker. Do u think they will allow me to get a new one? Like the new t6212? But i opened mine to install video card and wireless adapter/ The 6212 is way better than the 5026. If only i had known...

Returned T5026
Apr 4, 2005 9:56PM PDT

I purchased my T5026 at Circuit City. I called the manager, explained that I was under the assumption I purchased a HT machine, but was told by eMachines it was an error and verified this with the Intel HT utility. He must have known about the issue and they gladly gave me a credit for the $599 even though I purchased it back in 1/05 (returned on 4/3). I paid an additional $30 for the T6212 and it has a $50 rebate. I too had additional memory and a video card. I just yanked them and used the recovery CD to wipe the PC to new.

T6212
Apr 6, 2005 9:56AM PDT

Okay, let me preface this by saying I don't know a ton about computers. I was planning on purchasing the T5026, but now I'm leaning towards the T6212.

I noticed the T5026 processor speed was 3.06 GHz and the T6212's was 2.0 GHz. I know one is Intel and the other is AMD, but is the 3.06 vs. 2.0 a cause for concern if I buy the T6212?

Thanks in advance for any help!

5026 vs 6212 - need to make a decision today... 4-9
Apr 9, 2005 4:18AM PDT

today is last day of sale, i purchased a 5026 less then 14 days ago i have option of switching models...

what do I do? have to decide today!

first off i thought that 5026 video card was not upgradable one of the reason i want to switch ? does the memory you took out of 5026 fit the 6212 ? someone has offered me 2 sticks of DDR_SDRAM willl this work in the 6212 as well ?

is the athron faster or slower then the 5026 ? 3.06?
Is the athron 2.0 thought they told me on the phone it was faster - 3.2 ?

what do you mean by the HT machine... sorry better to ask to be sorry ... never bought a computer before so... I need your help

specs listed for both machine here:

The athlon 64 3200+ is comparable to a 3.2 Pentium 4 so it's faster,i guarantee it. Because of a mistake, the 5026 was advertised as HT-capable. The sticker's on the case. So you are entitled to a refund or exchange because of their mistake. Yes, it'll work, but only if the sticks are for the same amount of memory for example, either 2x256, 4x256, 2x512, 4x512,2x1,4x1. Get it.

sorry don't know what HT...
Apr 9, 2005 6:05AM PDT

HT cap is... are you saying that the 5026 that I have here in the box, not yet opened is missed represented

what is HT ? why is it important

should I go with the 6212 - must do today without hassle...

yes the memory are the exact ... friend of mine wrote.... they are already in the mail to me....

My computer came with 512MB of RAM, but I increased it to 2GB. That's 4 sticks of 512MBs. Since I only have 4 slots, I had to take out the 2 sticks of 256MBs. I put them in the anti-static bags the new sticks came out of and put them in my desk drawer. They've been there ever since.
It's DDR - SDRAM same as yours. Mine says it's PC3200 also. If the computer gurus here can tell us if it will work in your computer, I will send it to you.

will they work in both model... depending on what i decide to do with your help that is...... I am a sceptic ... mind you

HT- Is for multitasing, very important if you get a Pentium %. Yes go with the t6212, right now, say you was swindled and they can open the box to check if they want. ALso, on the box its PC2700 ram whereas the t6212 has 3200 which is faster. Just return it. Some other guy, opened the case but he jsut uninstalled it and everything and returned it. The t6212 is also 64-bit and has a PCI-Express x16 slot for graphics upgrade. Return it now!!!

memory sticks going to work ?
Apr 9, 2005 8:34AM PDT

the memory sticks that are being sent to me thru USPS is that going to work in 6212 ?

should i have to pay the $30 difference or should I argure that ?

- Collapse -
actually
Apr 9, 2005 10:31AM PDT

at circuit city where i bought it the t6212 on sale was actually cheaper. But wherever, i think out of your the goodness of your heart that they let you exchange it, you should pay the $30 difference. As for it working, yes it'll work. You are following the rules for amd processors where all the memory modules have to be the same and in pairs of 2 or 4. But not sure, if it'll work for the motherboard, but that depends on the modules you're receiving. It might not work. You can take your chances.
ROger
P.S. Post this in PC hardware. I'm sure many t6212 owners can tell you what memory modules would work for the computer. I did not exchange mine because i already installed many things on it, in the future, i might just buy the t6212 and have both.

Thank you!
Apr 9, 2005 10:36AM PDT

Ty, I am leaving now to exchange the 5026 for the 6212

the memory sticks were mailed this morning, I do hope they work out Grin

I do hope I don't regret this decision LOL.... *crossing fingers

Emachine t5026 memory Upgrade?
Sep 3, 2010 12:09PM PDT

Need help, I trying to upgrade from 512Kb to 2 GB of RAM. I removed the 512Kb and installed 1GB of memory in two of the 4 slots. I double checked and made sure that the memory was properly seated and reconnected all cables. Now my computer only runs wide open and will not come up. I re-installed the 512Kb and it works! Any advice?

Sounds like incompatible ram.

Unless you didn't get them seated fully it's time to ask the supplier if they support this model with those sticks.
