Perhaps. But what is clear is that putting our troops and civilians in the heart of terrorist country and thus providing easy targets keeps stateside America fairly safe.

Why travel thousands of miles to blow something up when you can step out of your front door and do the same?

Of course fighting fire with fire is a biblical recourse. But Israel has been trying that for 50 years and now, out of frustration' is building a wall which seems to me to be "containment" of the most primitive kind.

If I was gonna build a wall to keep out the suicide bombers, etc. I would leave one area wide open so that they only had one way to get in and have it heavily manned on my side of the wall 24/7

Let 'em come to me and pick 'em off as they try to enter.

Huge problem with the logic ...

... in order for Kerry to be right or wrong he would need to take a stand and not change it every time the political winds blow. He is weak though, and definitely wrong for America in a time of war (or any other for that matter).
