El Capitan

I don't know what's happening... probably something I'm doing wrong, but I can't find HOW to download El Capitan. I've tried the Apple site and when I click on Software download, I get the message that there are no new ones for me. I am now using Yosemite 10.10.5 so it should be there for me. I can pull up the El Capitan site, but see no way to download it. My Prossessor is 2.4 GHz Intel, Memory is 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Appreciate any help.
