Question

eGo 1T Drive How To Access BackUp Info...

Apr 17, 2011 11:27PM PDT

.. in XP Pro when created in Vista Business? I backed up my laptop to the eGo and now it is out for repair and there is info I need from the drive. Is there a way to access the files vis-a-vis my desktop XP Pro? I have tried to figure this out and am almost to the conclusion that it cannot be achieved or Am I not doing something correctly?

And in the future you may want to consider not using backup software. Why not copy the files you need to the drive?

Possible cause:

Your Windows XP is on a FAT32 partition, but the files on the eGo drive are on an NTFS partition. It is not possible to access files on an NTFS partition when you are using an operating system that's on a FAT32 partition.

Solution: Convert your XP partition to NTFS using the built-in converter. See this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314097

I doubt if the post by pip above is right. It would be new for me.

Your post is rather vague.
- You have tried to figure it out. Why couldn't you figure it out?:
- You might be doing something incorrectly. However, you don't say what you do and what happens.

As far as I know it should work. So please tell the details.
