Effective Sensor Resolution?

Can anyone tell me if the difference between 2,048,000 pixels and 690,000 pixels effective sensor resolution would be very noticable when playing back video recordings on a 32 inch TV? My point is, is it worth paying extra for that much more effective resolution, or is it not that noticable for an amatuer? I'm looking for a camcorder for home/vacation use and want something small and light. I'm thinking about the Sony DCR-PC109 or DCR-PC330. Any suggestions? Thanks.
