Editing and Recording

Aug 12, 2005 11:08AM PDT

I'm in the market for a new PC and would like to get in to some video editing and some music recording (home studio). Can I have some input on what features/specs (sound cards, video cards, RAM ,etc) I should be looking for to get the best performance without blowing the bank?

Video editing-depends on how heavy. Maybe nvidi quadro's or ati's firegl. But $$$

Processor-Dual-cores would be good.

RAM-Lots better.

For video editting any video card with 128mb will be more than sufficent.
Now if you were into gaming it would be a different story!!
You will need a firewire card or MB with firewire on it, to capture the video.
For audio recording consider the M-Audio Delta 44. This is a Pro sound card, 4 channels in and out, street price around $150.
For XP 512mb is the sweet spot.
A dual core processor is great for multi media work. John
