Editable Area - DreamweaverMX

Hi - Hoping someone can help me with this (I really don't know what I'm doing) - Some of the pages on my website are no longer editable, they use the same template as the ones that are and I am going mad trying to fix this (theres 136 pages I can't change/update).
This is one of the pages I can't change - any help would be great Happy

Re: edit

I find I can change any webpage using a basic editor like Notepad or Notepad++. But it's more work than using a specialised editor like Dreamweaver, indeed.

Thanks Kees_B

Thanks Kees_B problem is that it will most probably go back if I change the template. I think I need some help with the code to fix this problem so I don't have to re-create 136 pages.

Since you appear to have no web master.

Etsy not a real answer

Hi R Proffitt, I do have an etsy store but it isn't a great fit for me. I wrote the website in DW years ago and this is the first problem I have had, just need someone to look at the code and give me a clue what needs changing, I've compared code with pages that are editable and can't see how to fix the ones that aren't.

It should be an option.

It's unclear what error message you are getting but what is clear is you've lost the process you used before to create and edit pages. I've worked on dozens of web sites over the years and editing a page on one rarely is the same process as the next. That is, if someone wants a "step by step."

Nothing stops you from doing what Kees noted. Get to a copy of the content, open in notepad, save and put back on the site and test.

It's your business so you might have to consider adding a new team member to work the site while you make the goods.

Etsy not a real answer

Hi R Proffitt, If I try to edit in the design mode I get a circle with a slash through it symbol and if I edit in the code mode I get a message that says "you have made changes to code that is not marked as editable" and that the changes will be lost if the template is updated.

If I edit in notepad I will lose the changes when I update the template. I can use the template to re-create the 136 pages but I'd rather fix the error as it's the same error on each page. all the other pages using this template work fine and are editable.

Unfortunately there is not team, just me Sad

Etsy. I've run into small biz owners

That go down in flames taking their business down over refusal to get a web master on board or just bowing to the fact they lost the recipe and need to set up shop again. Don't be like them.

HOWEVER now that you supplied a little more detail I can look at that.

It appears you are in luck with dozens of prior finds at:"

Thanks R Proffitt, I'm wondering if it's something to do with " "Instance" rather than "Template" in the markup" I'll run through it all again tomorrow.
Thanks again
