Edit MAIL key on MS wireless keyboard

Jan 2, 2007 1:35AM PST

Using Win XP home SP2

How can I edit "MAIL" key on a Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0A

I was able to change the MESSENGER key to WORDPAD.EXE, no problem.

Trying to assign MAIL key to SEAMONKEY MAIL.

Tried the EDIT function and can not get it to accept Seamonkey Mail. Selection was made using the BROWSE function to get to INBOX. This did not work, appreciate any help in getting the right command to get the MAIL key to go to Seamonkey Mail.

Thanks

Ben

No joy...

I already have SEAMONKEY as default browser and mail.

The problem is in this wonderful ( not) program that came with the MS wireless keyboard.

Again, I was able to change the "MESSENGER" key to open Wordpad.exe, that was easy to do. Just can't get the Mail button to change to Seamonkey.

When I Edit the "MAIL" button settings I get a choice of "Start a Progam", which gives me ONLY 3 choices....Hotmail, MSN Hotmail, or Outlook Express.

Then another choice..."CUSTOM", which gives me over 30 choices like Calculator, Calendar, Close, Copy, Cut, Exce;. Exit and so on, but no choice for MAIL.

Next and final choice..."START A PROGRAM,WEB PAGE OR FILE". From this you can BROWSE the C drive for any program listed. It gets the whole path for Seamonkey "INBOX", but it will not work when applied.

It may be that "MAIL" will not open unless it is clicked while Seamonkey is open?????

Any other suggestion?

Thanks

Ben

Found the answer...

I found the answer on the SEAMONKEY newsgroup.

Click on Start \ Programs \ Seamonkey \ Mail.
Right click on MAIL and select 'Properties'.

Copy what is inside the 'Target' field.

Now use the keyboard software to EDIT the command of the button you want to change and PASTE what you have copied to the "command/shortcut" field.

I wonder if that was inded..

path\seamonkey -mail

If so, you had the answer earlier and just need to think over how to create shortcuts in the future.
