Edit and burn a DVD from Digital Camcorder

Nov 28, 2005 1:31AM PST

I've been to many stores and have not come up with a good answer to the question......is there a way to edit and burn Digital 8 or Mini Digital 8 tapes directly from the camera to a DVD recorder. I do not want to go through a PC. I curently edit from a Sony Digital 8 to VHS tape and then have the tape transfered to DVD. The editing process is quite simple using the pause button on the VCR remote but I keep hoping there has to be a way to go directly to DVD from the camera. Appreciate any info.

Well you have come up with the HARD WAY!!! This will also
reduce the picture quality to VHS level or about 1/3 of the picture quality that is on the digital tape.
So Bob's suggestion of the standalone DVD recorder is a good one. I have this unit, works good. GET a firewire wire cable and hook the camera to the DVD recorder and make your DVDs. John
