Echoing when using MSN or Yahoo messenger Cable vs. modem

When I use either MSN or Yahoo audio option with a person that is using modem, I can hear me very load and if I down the volume level I can't hear the other person.
With the same audio levels options I can talk perfectly with another person that is using cable modem, but seems that the problem is with those that use phone modem.

Does anybody knows a fix or patch for this?

If not, is there any other software?
