Ebay Return

Jun 29, 2015 12:38AM PDT

Hi,

I sold a pc on Ebay on the 2nd of June, I have just received a return and refund request from the buyer Claiming the pc is faulty (saying hes contacted dell and its the motherboard or ram that is faulty).
The pc was definitely working when it left my house, even one of the pictures on listing is off the screen showing specs of the pc.

What happens now? iv noticed my paypal balance is now in the minus, Since i dont have any money in the paypal account. Its been 3 and a half weeks for him to decide it don't work, And the "issue" has to be resolved by the 6th of july, I did contact ebay who just told me to wait until the 6th then contact them again to escalate the case.

Is there any seller protection? or how does it work? first time encountering this problem and not sure where i stand or if im protected in anyway.

Thanks in advance

I'm a buyer only

but seems EBay should come down on your side since a couple weeks is quite long enough to discover if something was wrong. Did you offer any warranty period?

fight it thru EBay then

and also have EBay remove any bad feedback from the person. I think you will win.

was the computer still under dell's warranty?

When it comes to dell, if the computer was no longer under manufacturers warranty. they will not help or even talk to you. Even if it was under warranty, if there was not a transfer of ownership, they will not talk to the new owners until it was done. The whole deal sounds fishy to me.

Warranty

No the computer was no longer under manufacturers warranty, I have been in contact with him and asked if he has opened the case to which he say's no although said dell told him to but he said no. Also asked if he had a reference number or anything at all from his call with dell which he don't have.

I totally agree

that is the thing about used computers and that is why I will never buy one. I cannot afford to get one and have it go bad within a short time. It can happen to new ones but at least they have a warranty.

One thing that the buyer does need to do, is to open the case and make sure all cables and cards are connected. Not sure what was done to prepare for shipping but if there was dust on the inside, it could be knocked loose and affected something. Also just the transport could cause cards to come loose. I have had that happen to me just by moving the computer across town.

Cards

I have been talking with the guy to try all solutions, he has agreed to open it and check if a card has came loose, Im hoping if this is genuine then that is all that has happened.
