How do these people sell brand new in box, not refurbished macs, for alot less than I can get a retail, and they are not charging tax, some do have suspect shipping charges

Hijacked shipments? One owner was not happy to find the serial number destroyed and no Apple warranty or support. Have you read those articles about Ebay being the perfect place to fence goods?

And if you find someone defending this, check if they have an ebay account.

Usually brand new items are on eBay for a couple reasons:

- To buy at a slightly lower cost
- To buy with extra software included

But from the seller's perspective, there is no gain at all in selling a Mac for less than they got it: so they must've gotten it for significantly less than the retail price (which immediately poses questionable legality...)
