"Easy Internet Service" Very annoying Popups

Sep 12, 2007 1:31AM PDT

Hello there!! Thanks for the warm welcome:
Ok, I'm going straight; like a few months ago I bought (in a trustable store), a new Laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium, it also came with the Windows Anytime Upgrade CD (or DVD, better said), but!!, since I?m connecting to internet with it, I'm presenting two problems which are getting me really mad and very disappointed, the problems are these:
1.-I?m getting on my screen a very annoying popup every 5, 10, 15?minutes, which I find very unusual. As I can see, the message logo is identified as Easy Internet Service application and it is a small window which shows the date details on the upper frame and inside the box reads ?Register your PC to maximize your ownership and support experience? and below, three options to choose: Register Now, Remind me later and Do not remind me anymore...I have done everything to avoid this Popup for showing on my screen again, but in vane; no matter which option I check, it remains coming out all the time?
2.-I?m also getting another Popup which is not that often like the first one, but it?s getting me seriously worried. I don?t remember the exact words in the message, but it?s something like this ?The registration code (or serial number????) you have entered for this copy of Windows is invalid?? and below, three option to choose, more or less like this: "Call an automated phone to register your copy", "Buy a new serial number" and "Enter the correct serial number for your copy of Windows Vista"...
I think I should add also this: The copy of Windows Vista I have was bought with the laptop, so it is supposed to be genuine, the serial number I entered is the indicated one in the stamp that is stuck under my laptop?I DO REALLY REALLY NEED HELP, PLEASE!!!!
...and sorry for such a long post... :-x

Open the task manager..

the next time it pops up, select the processes and look for the program. You'll have to guess but when you think you found it write down the name of the file and then end task. If the pop up disappears then do a search for that file and move it. I wouldn't erase it until your sure that its not going to cause any other problems.

jijiji...I followed your instructions and I think I found it Happy I moved it to the trash bin (not deleted yet), now let's wait and see what happen...very clever of you!! I must confess that I tried to do that once but I think I must have mistaken the correct file; I couldn't even get this far as you taught me now...THANK YOU SO MUCH in advance, even if it wouldn't work (hope it will) I'm really appreciating your very help.

PS: ...should I do the same with the second problem...??? :-/

Just uninstall it...

Go to your Control Panel, Programs and Features, and then find the Easy Internet Sign-Up application and uninstall it. It's just crapware that's preloaded on the computer.

As far as the registration problem, I work at a retailer that sells computers, and we have this issue with Vista frequently. Brand new computers that we'll set out for display will occasionally come up--even though they aren't connected to the net--and say that the copy of Windows is not genuine. There's really no fix other than to call up and talk to someone from India and get an authorization code.

???

Well, definitely the problem #1 is solved alreary; THANKS so much again.

Now, what you are telling me about the product key (second problem) is not clear for me at all..."to call India" for an authorization code??? What do you mean "India", is it the related company for this issue? Should I contact them?...if that is, do you know how I have to do that?...now I'm starting to get worrier because then I might be facing a serious swindle problem here...sorry if any of my questions are out of the topic...

Haha, no, not what I meant.

That was just me being cynically about calling tech support. When you get that message, Vista should give you a number to call for authorization. You'll have to do the whole code entry thing, then it will fail and transfer you to a rep, and then they should be able to authorize it. Tech support is usually from India, that was what that was about, haha.

Very annoying Popups

Oh, I see!! Happy Wink Any way I'm in a whole issue about that...right now I'm writing you, I have that nasty window (popup) infront of my nose, I hate it; doesn't let me work...and now I can see well what it reads:
"The Windows Vista Home Premium product key you have typed is invalid for activation"

To activate Windows you will need to use the automated phone system.

. Use the automated phone system.
. Buy a new product key online.
. Type a different product key.

That's all what's shown inside the box...this is not fair, this laptop costed me $ 2.700 bucks and windows is always included in the price... )Sad Any way I'm gonna try your sugestion and if it doesn't work...hummmm...

Well buddy, Thanks you so much for your time and help again, I mean it!

HOPEFULLY no annoying Popups any more...
Sep 14, 2007 6:37AM PDT

Oh boy!! it's been the hell on that phone, but finally I have got the activation key, ufffff!!! so it is supposed that I'm not gonna get that warning again. I was just wondering...how 'bout if (for some reason) I have to reinstall the system, and start all over again...??? now! that's won't be any funny...
Well, I wanted to thank you once again and tell you that your help was straight to the point and very usefull, see you aroud, I'll be coming back in some time.

you probably will..

Yeah, if you reinstall, you'll probably end up with the same issue again. Or if you make any changes to the hardware. It sucks but eh, what can you do?

Glad you got it working, though!
