Easy CD Creator Incompatible with WinXP, caused CDR driver to shut down

Feb 20, 2004 9:42PM PST

Inadvertently installed Roxio software before uninstalling Adaptec software. Now, at boot-up,
message appears that CD-burning software might cause
computer to become unstable, and that CD drive will be disabled.

Have tried the tricky Register Edit solution to no avail. Am missing some dll file from Adaptec.

Any body have a solution to this vexing problem?

Even with the name of the program, it in itself doesn't tell us the version installed. Perhaps the Web site concerning 'Uninstalling Easy CD & DVD Creator 6" at Roxio will be of help. However, again, I'm not sure this is what you want to attemp to start over or perhaps using "restore."

Easy CD Creator versions 3/4/5.0 are incompatible with XP and will give such warning.
With Version 5.0 one of the components "Take Two" does not work with XP.
You can workaround this by choosing custom install and select not to install Take Two.

You will also have to install the latest updates.
You best bet is to use system restore back to before you install to undo the problem.

Then if you want to reinstall go to Roxio's site and download the latest update to your HDD so you can apply it after installing the software.
