Easiest way to publish videos to site - what original format

Mar 5, 2006 4:30AM PST

Hi,

I want to start publishing videos to videoblogs and website.

I have no idea of the type of camcorder needed for this.

In what format is the movie recorded. Is it recorded on a disk? Mini disk? Is it simply downloaded to a hard disk like an MP3?

Can anyone enlighten me on the process (I know it is a basic - Thanks).

What is the easiest and the most commonly done.

As well, what camcorder would be best - I'll start with budget options (under $300 if possible)

Thank you

Video Publishing

Hi,

A web cam is probably the least expensive way to capture video and post online. Logitech makes some decent web cams. If you want to use a camcorder, any camcorder will do. You will have to connect it to your PC using a video capture card, or even firewire. Then you will have to use programs such as Microsoft movie maker and capture the video. You will then export the movie in either wmv format, or use DivX to export in DivX format. MP3 is also fine, but I prefer DivX because of better quality. If you want a camcorder review check out www.crutchfield.com.
