Easiest Way To Format Hard Drive?

Aug 29, 2011 12:33AM PDT

I lost my license to use Windows Vista and didn't have the cash to fork out for a full retail version of it. So, I gave Ubuntu a shot and am very impressed by it, I think I may stay with it. Anyway, I installed Ubuntu without formatting my hard drive first and am having some boot issues with it. What I would like to do is just wipe/format my hard drive(s), and do a clean install of Ubuntu by booting from the cd. What is the best and easiest way to format my hard drive to start fresh in order to do a nice clean install of ubuntu?

Make sure you have the bootable live CD for the Ubuntu install. Once, you verify that, then get your hands on either DBAN or KILLDISK, use one to totally wipe out the HD. Once finished, you have a blank HD, reboot using the Live Ubuntu CD and follow prompts for the HD install. That's it. You may want to get any drivers, etc. to finish the install for whatever you need beforehand just to keep things moving. good luck

Ok, so I will create a Boot Disk of DBAN, wipe my hard drive, then I will be able to do a fresh, clean install of Ubuntu! Great! I'll go ahead and download DBAN in Ubuntu as that is the only OS I have at the moment, make the ISO image cd, then use it. Thanks a lot!
