Easiest way to create an online shop?

by JillH / November 20, 2006 4:35 AM PST

I have been asked to make a website and I am used to doing fairly static websites but this person wants an online shop to sell artwork. Could anyone advise me on an easy way to set up the store and on payments by visa etc.
Is it easier to use one of the ready made services and could someone point me in the right direction please.
Many thanks for any advice or tips.
J.H.

Ebay it or Godaddy.

You'll run into "purists" that will suck you dry with custom sites.

Bob,
Thanks for the idea - I had a look at the godaddy site and its solutions are very good for USA but the international one costs nearly 700 dollars. I am in Spain so I need a european solution.
Ebay isn't suitable so I really do need some sort of service.

And please tell what region next to save a back and forth.

Best of luck and just sharing that I've run into a few artists that have realized that Ebay ain't that bad a way to go.

Check for a host that supports oscommerce - it's open source and allows you to build an online shop and handle different types of payment.
