Earthlink question......

Aug 7, 2005 8:51AM PDT

I just switched to Earthlink and eventhough I connect at a faster speed than my previous ISP, webpages download slower than before. I don't use the Earthlink homepage, accelerator or mailbox, so I'm wondering since it's such a large program, if I delete it and just use their # to connect to the net, if it will speed up the web pages ? Win XP,SP 2,IE 6 Thanks !

Don't use any ISPs software

unless it's absolutely needed. AOL is one you cannot avoid, as I understand it. Earthlink's browser is IE anyway. I'd try another browser such as Firefox and keep the cache cleaned out. Cache can speed some page loading and slow others. You can also tweak to eliminate loading of some ads. This should help some. I gave up dial up years ago, myself....life is too short.

earthlink dial-up

Thanks for the response Steve. I've been trying to post this response for 3 days now. Hopefully will be succesful today. Earthlink's software is 58 mb. Just knowing that, You have to realize that something is going to slowdown. I am sticking with IE and OE as I have used them for 6 years now and am very comfortable with them. As long as I can control the electronic gremlins with ad-aware and spy-bot, I really have no reason to change. As far as dial-up goes, that is all we have available where I live. Thanks again, jz.
