I called Earthlink to cancel the DSL and, with my wife on the phone to interpret the nice lady's instructions, got a year of unlimited dial-up for $9.95/mo, and am now awaiting a box to return the modem and cables.
What a relief!
I should have read the year old posts about Eearthlink DSL problems.
I installed my Earthlink Zyxel DSL modem yesterday and my internet connection is now slower than my dial-up connection.
I spent most of this morning straining my old hearing-aid assisted ears getting some strange fixes from support people in India before I was transferred to someone in the US.
My connection occasionally starts at 30 some odd KB/s then gradually slows to less than 1 KB/s then the data transfer just stops.
If I have the problem next week after the US support people retrun to work I will just cancel the DSL...if I can figure out how to do it.
