e-mail programme that has audible alert to new mail

by BridgeStt / December 4, 2008 2:16 PM PST

Okay, I'm hoping that there is a free e-mail programme that I can use with Thunderbird that will sound an audible alert when I get mail from a certain group I belong to. I'm hoping it will be something like the Auction Alert alarm that can used on E-bay (as far as sound quality). I've really no idea if something like that even exists, but I'm hoping it does, and one of you Techie Geniuses knows about it. I have Windows XP, and use Firefox (latest version)and Thunderbird. Thanks for any suggestions, or ideas about this.

I thought Thunderbird already did this.

E-mail programme with audible alert.

Yes, Thunderbird does have an envelope icon that pops up when mail arrives, but I'm wanting something more elaborate. I belong to a few groups and often get posts of a somewhat "urgent" nature, and want to be able to immediately know when they arrive; without having to sit and watch my e-mail all day long. I was hoping to find something along the lines of Auction Alert (used on Ebay) with a nice, loud, "hey you, wake up" type alarm. Thanks for your comments.....

I bet you may see this in the future. But for now I'd hit the Thunderbird developers site to ask for this feature.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
