e-mail problem

Mar 7, 2006 12:32AM PST

My Toshisba satellite 2405-S221 laptop running Windows Home Edition of XP just recently is preventing me from downloading attachments in my MSN e-mail and is preventing me from replying in my AOL e-mail. A bleep sounds when I click to pick-up or reply to e-mails. Please help me to discover why this is happening. Thanks in advance.

Just a beep? That's it?

No error message in status bar, no pop-up errors, just a beep? That's kinda hard to believe.

Yep, just a beep or some such sound. It's as if something is keeping me from connecting to the download or the place to reply to a message. I'm guessing something to do with my firewalls but not sure where to check them out. Strange it just happens in some e-mails not all. Comments welcome. I am using Verizon DSL but that should not matter, right?

thanks for quick reply. I clicked the HERE in your message, no problem there, but when I clicked on having problems with downloading attachments in the place, the same beep or strange sound came on and wouldn't let me go there. Oh dear what can the matter be.

thanks for another thought

I will check out the thought that maybe the battery is low. I use my laptop connected all the time so would a low battery affect the way it works? guess anything is possible with these confusers. I have lots of patience so will keep trying to find the solution to the strange sound when I try to download attachments. thanks again!

e-mail problem solved
Mar 8, 2006 7:14AM PST

Today I uninstalled a Google toolbar which I had recently installed. I then went to the AOL e-mail site and clicked Compose and the window came up without a beep. So now if I download the Google toolbar and it happens again i will know for sure it was the culprit.
And, I am embarrassed to tell you that when I went to the MSN e-mail where I could not download when I clicked on the download, I happened to scroll down and there was the e-mail already downloaded. Sometimes I forget to scroll down, bet I will remember now. Thanks for listening.

it looks like your attachments are held back by security ,if you untick this then you should be able to receive attachments.jw1ls5n1029

blocked

I have just read your problem and I congratulate you that you have now found a solution for it. I suspect that it has something to do with your google's pop-up blocker which prevents some pop-ups and some scripts in running as they may damage your system. Most of the times, it can not identify what the user really wants or if some virus/malware is causing the pop-ups or scripts to run.
