General discussion

e-mail links.

I had an idea about the way CNET sends out e-mails when tracked discussions are commented on.

The other forum that I use Aria Forums) allows you to hyperlink directly to the comment that has been posted. So when you recieve an email "somebody has posted a comment on your discussion, e.t.c, Aria will then not just link to the thread, but actually link to the comment posted.

CNET just link to the thread, so I'm wondering if it would be possible for the CNET programmers to include this feature. Because its quite tiring going through all the posts just to find the one that has been posted on recently on your thread.

Actually, that's currently planned...

In fact, our notifications used to link directly to the individual reply, but the feature was lost when CNET moved from Jive (third-party forum software) to their own in-house software. They didn't have time to add that before launch, but it is planned for Phase II of the overhaul, which is currently in development. Hopefully we will see that feature before the last of the snow melts. Happy
