Question

Dwnloaded OfcJet Removal Utility Tmp

Oct 24, 2012 5:44AM PDT

1. I've also downloaded a Saved version, so does it matter which one I use, the temp or the saved? Created a Restore Point, and turned off McAfee Firewall for 30 min., which is probably about used up by now. Could it be done in 15 min, if someone can help me get a Tech or someone to do Remote Assistance?

2. OfcJet 1350 is not my model. I have two Injets, 1310 Series. I really appreciate having been given the Remover or Scrubber Utility link here at CNET to try to remove 1350 OfcJet. However, there's lots more to it than the four steps.

Do I just go to "File" and click delete on each thing in the list? I.E., default browser, says it's forbidden to open one page, which I forgot to write down. Some numbered error message. ( Maybe the Techs who could do Remote Assistance while I just sit back? Are they just busy?) If I ever get them, should I set a time limit for the access permission?

7zS3 FF tmp has as first item in the list of Icons, (all of them DOS files) CS Dialog Banner, so,

Do I just click Delete, then proceed through the rest of the list? When I get to Step 1 of the 4, do I work that differently? Thanks in advance to my Expert, who I hope sees this. I'll check again later. Want to give me a time? Eastern?
It took me a while to get up the nerve to download the remover utility, and I don't have anyone knowledgeable enough to do Remote Assistance. May have to ask HP if my friend here is maybe out of town or even out of the country on a business trip? TIA Interesting forum, huh?

Bit of Clarification

The error message is HTTP 403, an Incompatibility with I.E. 8. Hopefully I don't need to use it. I don't remember how to make Firefox my temporary default browser. While waiting for answer here I'll try HP forum.
Using XP Home, SP3. Just authorized a device detector add-on in case the intruder Officejet 1350 or my 1310 Series copier and scanner are not being detected. I realize I don't get some software updates because this is a 2002, I believe, Compaq Presario XP Home. In Device Manager, there's an exclamation point by "MONITOR", which must include these All in One devices. My System Restore will no longer go back far enough to get rid of whatever the exact problem is. Error Log mentions Windows Installer a lot, which is probably how Officejet 1350 accidentally got installed?

Just comments. Hope it clears it up.

First I don't know of any Tech in these forums as they are free and person to person. You get some good to great advice but when you need support you may have to use the places you did before.

-> Your question about opening the tmp download seems to me you are looking at the incomplete download or the temporary file before the browser finishes. I don't want to upset you but your rarely find that temporary file of any use since they started using that system. That is, I don't want to upset you that you should wait for the download to finish.

Also, since we have such a wide choice of browsers, why are we limited to IE?

Good Morning. Okay, I Was Suspecting Tmp Wasn't Good, and
Oct 24, 2012 10:38PM PDT

And I've changed browsers, back to Firefox. I.E. seems to have so many incompatabilities. Just did a Disk Cleanup and Defrag hoping to get rid of the temp file. I'd also clicked Save one after that but probably it didn't save because I had the temp. So the download was incomplete, but I've apparently got to start over, with the link you gave in the previous tracked discussion. (Plan B, I've been so dreading having to give up XP for Win7, but finally this morning I may just surrender and buy an Asus desktop Win7, because it only weighs 17 lbs and I can take it all by myself to my car and repair shop. Have also seen some sites that will help make Win7 almost like XP Home. As a condition of sale, I'd ask if they'd install Firefox 13 for me, so I put nothing in I.E..

Thanks so much for the support. Hope I don't have to come back today, and can go help my other son figure out this much about his own printing problem. The one with the computer degree from U of M works too far away and is too busy for anything. I have six pages about USB's to go enlarge and increase contrast to make it readable. Walmart has All in Ones for $49, one USB powered and the other "Wireless". I'm not at all sure exactly what that means. Surely they've fixed the USB pins bending or breaking, after this many years (?)

Wait a Minute, One More Precautionary Question
Oct 24, 2012 10:46PM PDT

In the four steps which come after a whole list of DOS files to be, I assume, deleted, it says after each of the steps, or at least the last two, I must reinstall printer. Do they mean the one I'm trying to remove? For which I have no disk. Would have to look up and download. Or can I use my 1310 series disk?

While waiting for that to hopefully be noticed and answered, I'd better go to the store, while it's maybe early enough that I can get a motorized shopping cart, have a bad foot, podiatrist keeps saying I may lose eventually, so I'd better be thoroughly careful with it. Catch you later. TIA.
