DVR Problem. Can't write to it.

I am using Windows ME and my computer has a CDR drive. In the past, I was able to send files to it (don't ask me how I did it because frankly I don't remember) but, mostly I've used the Copy and Paste method.
A couple of days ago, I decided to copy some WMV files in an attempt to lighten the storage in my hard drive, but I had no success. The system tells me that either the disk is write protected or I'm not authorized to make use of it. Please help. Thanks a bunch.
