DVDs on Ipod Touch

Sep 22, 2007 7:02AM PDT

I was wondering what the best way to put DVDs on an Ipod Touch is. I have preordered the Touch and wanted to get some movies ready before it arrives. My DVDs are not on the hard drive yet, and they will need to be converted to work on the Touch. I have never done this before, and I do not know what programs to use or the steps to take. Thanks for any help

Take a look at Handbrake

which is available for a variety of platforms, including Windows.

It converts DVD's to something suitable for the iPods.

Available Here and is a very good price.

here's a hint...

I take it that what you want to do is copy DVD movies you own. Handbrake may not be the total solution for you unless you have a Mac. I don't want to get too much into this, but here is a link to an article from PC Mag that will point you in the right direction.

Handbrake on WIndows

So Handbrake won't entirely work with Windows? I hear a lot about it only working or working better with a Mac. I am running Windows XP on a Dell Desktop by the way

it does

But it doesn't decrypt. My understanding is that the Mac version does.
Actually, I've tried Handbrake for Windows, but it was a little too much work for me. My current solution has 2 programs that work in tandem (I already provided the link to the article that mentions this). I don't want to go into too much detail since this is illegal to do in the United States and I don't want to get this thread shut down.

Here's an article from iLounge where it states that Handbrake for Windows can't decrypt, but it does offer some solutions to go along with it. I couldn't get them to work for me. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Handbrake

Sorry about that.

I looked at the Handbrake site, obviously not too closely, and assumed that as they touted the product as multi-platform, that it performed the same way on each of them.

It apparently does not.

To all newbie Mac users out there after ripping it with handbrake the way to go is with a program called Isquint a great App. to converte your freshly ripped DVD movie into mp4 simple and with many preference adjustment as size of file Etc. important use when dealing with limited flash drive space as for the Ipod touch (got one I love it ) check it out
Cheers!
